Take Flight from the Dragon Kingdom collection by Whistler Studios for Windham Fabrics features a lively fantasy print filled with colourful flying dragons scattered across a textured sky background. Each dragon is illustrated in bright, vibrant colours, creating a playful and energetic design that captures the magic of mythical creatures in motion.

The dragons appear in a variety of poses, soaring, gliding and twisting through the air, giving the fabric a dynamic feel that works beautifully for quilts and imaginative sewing projects.

This design comes in two colourways. Midnight features a deep, dramatic navy sky that makes the colourful dragons stand out vividly, while Cloud offers a soft pale background that creates a lighter, airy version of the same magical print.

Printed on high-quality 100% cotton quilting fabric, this material is breathable, smooth and easy to sew, making it suitable for quilting, dressmaking, craft projects and decorative accessories.

Washing Instructions:

  • Cold gentle machine wash (wash dark colours separately)

  • Drycleanable

  • Do not soak or bleach

  • Do not dry in direct sunlight

  • Hang garments inside out to dry

Cutting & Ordering Information:

Our fabrics are sold by the half metre (50cm x full fabric width). If you order more than one unit, your fabric will be supplied in a continuous length, unless you request otherwise.

Examples:
  • If you order 1 unit, you will receive 0.5 metres x fabric width.
  • If you order 2 units, you will receive 1 metre x fabric width.
  • If you order 4 units, you will receive 2 metres x fabric width.

We always cut fabric as a single continuous piece (e.g., 2.5m, 3m, etc.), unless you specifically ask for it to be cut into smaller pieces. Please contact us at checkout if you’d like separate cuts.

How To Use & Hints and Tips

  • Pre-wash before sewing to allow for natural cotton shrinkage.

  • Ideal for fantasy quilts, children’s sewing projects and themed crafts.

  • Pairs well with plains in navy, sky blue, teal or bright jewel tones.

  • Use a universal 80/12 needle for clean stitching.

  • Suitable for quilts, dresses, bags, cushions and craft projects.

Please note that if more than one piece of fabric is ordered it will come as one continuous piece as it is cut from the roll, however the rolls do have a maximum length therefore larger orders may be sent in multiple pieces. 

While every care has been taken to ensure the accuracy of the colours depicted in our images, please be aware that due to monitor resolution, lighting, photo processing software and other factors it is almost impossible to represent colour to 100% accuracy.
