Hints & Tips for Working with Heavyweight Waterproof Canvas
🧵 Cutting & Handling:
- Use heavy-duty fabric scissors or a rotary cutter to cleanly cut through the thick weave.
- Mark fabric with tailor’s chalk or a wax pencil, as standard pens may not show on PU coating.
🪡 Sewing Recommendations:
- Use a heavy-duty sewing machine with a size 90/14 or 100/16 needle to handle the thickness.
- Bonded nylon or polyester thread is recommended for strong, long-lasting seams.
- Consider reinforced stitching (double or triple stitch) for extra durability.
🌧️ Water Resistance & Storage:
- The PU coating provides water repellency, but prolonged exposure to water may cause seepage.
