What is Cotton Flannel Fabric?

Plain flannel fabric is a soft, woven cotton fabric that is brushed on one or both sides to create a slightly fuzzy texture. This brushing process raises the fibres, giving the fabric its signature warmth and softness.

Flannel has been used for centuries and was first developed in Wales in the 17th century, where weavers discovered that adding the ‘nap’ created a lightweight yet insulating fabric. Today, it is widely recognized for its ability to trap heat while remaining breathable and moisture-wicking, making it perfect for cooler weather.

This fabric is sometimes referred to by other names, including:
