This fabric is sometimes called "velboa skin" when used for making stuffed animal toys.

Not only is it suitable for a realistic animal skin look because it is a low nap fake fur, but its strength also makes it an ideal fabric for this purpose.

For example, velboa is the perfect choice for covering a child's rocking horse toy as it can both look like a horse's hide and stand up to the use of being climbed on frequently.

Costumes are another great use for velboa.

It can be made to look like suede such as for a Pocahontas costume, or for just about any animal the imagination can bring to life.

Scraps of the material from larger project can be used to make the small costume pieces, such as ears or a tail. 

Velboa is considered a safe fabric choice for infants, and is very soft.
